THE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION & RE-CERTIFICATION COURSE

Michael Fuller of Pegasus is a Senior Instructor of the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada (HPAC)
Each year he offers the Instructor's Course to those pilots who wish to learn how to teach Paragliding. The HPAC and Transport Canada also requires that any pilot flying tandem attain the Instructor's Rating. Instructors already in posession of a valid HPAC instructors rating are also required to re-certifiy every three years. Pegasus Paragliding is pleased to be the first School east of the heartland (Alberta/BC) to be able to offer this course in English. (There are two other schools in Quebec but their curriculum is in French.)

Requirements

APPRENTICE INSTRUCTOR

HPAC Criteria for Instructors:

- be a member of the HPAC/ACVL
-have an Intermediate rating
-be a member of the HPAC/ACVL
- be 18 years of age
- have an HPAC/ACVL Intermediate rating and 25 hours airtime
- Passed the Transport Canada HAGAR examination
- have a current First Aid Certificate
- assist a certified instructor for a minimum of 25 hours as an apprentice
- successfully complete an Instructor Certification Seminar (minimum 24 hour course)
- have the recommendation of a Senior Instructor

INSTRUCTOR (note: applicants have a year from date of course to complete requirements. Instructors re-certifying
need to have valid first aid for the duration of their certification)

Content

The class will operate on a seminar format where contribution of ideas, techniques and approach philosophies will be welcomed for discussion. "Only through free flow exchange of ideas will teaching skills evolve to embrace the recent advances made in the fields of teaching and paragliding."

What to Bring
-copy of HPAC membership card. Intermediate rating
-proof of HAGAR (sheet given to you by Government after writing).
-minimum St John, Standard First Aid Certificate.
-last page of log book with hours and flights.

Time: three days

Cost:
Instructor certification: $300.00 +hst
Instructors re-certification fee is $150.00 +hst

We will be offering the possibility of writing your Advanced rating exam during this course.
You will be given 1 year from date of the course to complete all requirements.
