Getting There
Parrsboro and Diligent River are situated along the southwestern shore of Cumberland County, Nova Scoatia, facing the Bay of Fundy and the Minas Basin. Parrsboro is located on Highway 2 while Diligent River is located ten kilometers further west on Highway 209.
Coming from the East?
When driving west from Halifax turn off the Trans Canada Highway
at Exit 12 at Glenholm and travel Highway 2 along the scenic Minas Shore to
Parrsboro. On your way you will drive over Economy Mt. There is an easterly
launch there. You will also pass by the Hidden Falls launch about 5k before
you get to Parrsboro. This site is harder to find now that it is no longer a
tourist destination and all signage is gone. When you reach Parrsboro proceed
through it in the direction of Amherst. 1/2 a kilometer beyond the town limits
you will intersect with Highway 209. It is a T so can only turn left toward
Diligent River.
Coming from the West?
When driving east from New Brunswick take Exit 4 at Amherst and
travel south to Parrsboro. About 4km after turning off on Highway 2 watch out
for Highway 302. Take that route if you are looking for the speedier way to
the Parrsboro Shore. If you have time, stay on Highway 2 and take in Springhill.
You'll get there eventually. As you approach Parrsboro you will intersect with
Highway 209 in Cross Roads. It is a T so can only turn right toward Diligent
River.
Proceed 10 km west to Diligent River where you will go through a cross roads indicating Diligent River Harbour and Glasgow Mountain. Drive straight for another 2km and look for the signage indicating 9874. There is, as well, a sign there for Artware Studio. Bear left at the sign and then bear left almost immediatly along a dirt driveway which keeps going and going and going for 2 km until you reach the school which overlooks the Bay. You have arrived!!
