East Coast Ultimate Record Breakers (For those that refuse to be bound by limits)

To be eligible to become a member of ECURB you must make a record from a flying site or break someone else’s current record at that particular flying site. The ECURB membership is open to any Free Flight or Motor Pilot in the world & can be flown from any site in the world. Records & Sites are defined below.

A Site for free flight is defined as any solid piece of ground that a free flight pilot has launched from & has been used on more than one occasion by more than one pilot.      (Not necessarily on the same day)

A site for Motor Pilots is defined as any solid piece of ground that a motor pilot launches from in the same Province or State will be considered as the same site. In other words, only one record for each category can be held in any particular Province or State no matter what city or county it may have started in.
If a flight extends into another Province or State other than it originated in, the record will only be valid in the Province or State that the flight began.

Free Flight Towing is defined the same as motor flight as far as the site determination goes, so only one record in each category for each Province or State can be held. Should a flight cross a Provincial or State boundary the record is held in the Province or State that the flight originated in & competes against records in that Province or State only.

To be eligible in the Free Flight Class one must make or break a record in one of the following classes.

Open Distance: Record broken must be a record of at least 20km from a specific site & greater than any other previously set record from that site.
If the site has no previous record the flight must be at least 20 km measured straight-line distance to qualify for membership into ECURB.

Altitude Record: To qualify for the altitude record the record broken must be higher than 1000ft over launch height & higher than any current record set at that particular site.
(For Tow flights) launch height starts where you pull the pin from the tow.

Out & Back: Record broken must be at least 20 km in total measured by straight-line distance & further than any other previous record set at that particular site.

To be eligible in the Motor Class: one must make or break a record in one of the following classes.

Open Distance: Flight must be 150km or more from the take off location straight line distance & further than any other previously recorded straight line flight from that site. (Province or State)

Highest Altitude: Flight must be higher than 9000ft ASL & be higher than any other previously recorded flight at that site. (Province or State)

Out & Back: Flight must be further than 120km in total straight line out & back & be further than any other previously recorded flight at that site. (Province or State)

This competition is meant to be “user friendly” for all pilots, so scoring system will be simple. An altimeter must be used when applying for an altitude record & a GPS or equilivent (Google Earth) must be used when applying for open distance & out & back.

When applying for an open distance you must submit the latitude & longitude of the launch position for the flight & the final landing site, as well as the amount of km your are laying claim to.

When applying for an Out & Back you must submit the latitude & longitude of the launch site, the turn around point & the landing site as well as the amount of km you are laying claim to.

If you know you have the record for a particular site all you have to do is submit your record in writing in accordance with the eligibility rules above, accompanied by a favorite picture of yourself, your T Shirt size & the equivalent of 20.00 dollars Canadian currency. (Cheque or money order) Cheque should be made out to Tim Reicker. Money will go towards the printing of your T-shirt. If you only want the record recorded in your name & not the T-shirt don’t worry about the 20 bucks. You can still be a member of ECURB. Any moneys left over will go to Site development for the sport of Free flight in the Atlantic Provinces of Canada (east coast).

Send all information along with (Cheque or money order if you want the T-shirt) to Tim Reicker, 5 Greenwood ct, Hampton NB. E5N 5R4 Canada, or send an E-mail to (timandcathy2009@hotmail.com)

Restrictions: Fuel capacity for motor flights must not exceed 15 liters to be eligible for a record.  Extra fuel may be carried for those machines with smaller gas tanks & one fuel stop made but total fuel burn for the entire flight must not exceed 15 liters.

Fuel Stop: must be completed & pilot must be airborne within 15 minutes of landing or be subject to disqualification.

What do you gain by joining ECURB?

You gain membership into an elite fraternity of airmen who refuse to be bound by limits.
You get the T-shirt (If you want it) showing you have qualified & are a member of ECURB. Which will soon be recognizable world wide amongst your piers.
You will qualify to win a wall plaque stating your name & your achievement.

Many pilots can earn the right to wear the T-shirt, but only 3 motor pilots & 3 Free flight Pilots will earn the right for their wall to bear the plack saying they have had the furthest or highest flight out of all the sights that ECURB has laid claim to for that particular year. Year will end December 31st & plaque will be mailed out by February 1st of the New Year starting.

The records for the sites will not be re-started but will continue to grow from year to year as will the membership into the elite fraternity of ECURB.
